Body found in Pasadena parking lot

Residents in Pasadena say they are shocked after a body was found shot to death in a parking lot near the Rose Bowl

A city of Pasadena employee working at the Rose Bowl discovered a body at 5 a.m. Monday morning, only an hour after nearby residents reported hearing gunshots.

Police responded to the call from residents, and did not find anything in the residential area, according to Detective Lieutenant Tracey Ibarra.

The worker called Pasadena police upon discovering the body in Rose Bowl parking lot one at Brookside Park, and paramedics pronounced the body dead at the scene.

“I’m absolutely shocked,” said Pasadena resident Tiffany Jackson. “I come here five or 6 times a week, and I didn’t know what was going on. The first thing I thought was, here!?”

Authorities said they are still investigating if the gunshots and the body are related.

Police said the man shot to death appeared to be in his 30s, but the identity of the victim is still unknown.

Ibarra said people who use the Rose Bowl early in the morning to exercise may have witnessed something unusual and encouraged anyone who saw something out of the ordinary to call the Pasadena police department at 626-744-4241.
