The search for a missing Lomita woman continued Wednesday when police began digging in her husband’s newly remodeled restaurant. Investigators were led to the Thyme cafe after receiving tips that David Viens began renovations shortly after his wife disappeared. Detectives believe the man may have buried his wife Dawn’s body in freshly poured concrete.

Viens was arrested Monday on suspicion of killing Dawn and confessed to her killing Tuesday. Dawn Veins disappeared on Oct. 18, 2009.

"It makes me angry that he has been coming here for sixteen months knowing she’s here, underneath the ground,” said Dayna Papin, Dawn Viens’ sister.

The Daily Breeze reported that detectives found blood on the walls inside the couple’s former home in Lomita. The same day, Viens saw detectives watching him and led them on a chase in his car that ended with him pulling over next to a cliff. He and his live-in girlfriend got out of the car, and Viens jumped off of the 80-foot cliff.

Viens suffered shattered bones and was placed in an induced coma. His breathing tube was recently removed. He has been arrested but has not been arraigned due to his condition.
