Women of Troy left out of NCAA tournament

USC will participate in the NIT

The 64 teams selected to play in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament were announced Monday, and the Women of Troy once again did not earn a bid.

USC ended the season with a 19-12 record and a fifth place finish in the Pac-10 standings.

The Women of Troy started the year strong, winning 11 of their first 14 games. But the team was a little less consistent down the stretch, winning five of their final 10 regular season games.

USC won its first game in the Pac-10 tournament against Washington State, 78-66, but the team lost in the quarterfinals the following night to Arizona by 11 points.

The Women of Troy ended last season with the exact same record and were also left out of the tournament.

The four one seeds in this year’s tournament are Tennessee, Baylor, Stanford, and UCONN. Connecticut is playing for its third consecutive national championship.

USC will host UCSB in an opening round NIT game on Thursday at 7 p.m.
