Escaped Bronx Zoo cobra takes social media by storm

The cobra that escaped from the Bronx Zoo gains nearly 30,000 Twitter followers

The mysterious tweeter posted this cobra picture as her Twitter page photo. (Twitter)

The cobra that vanished from the Bronx Zoo on Friday is still on the loose.

But the deadly reptile can be tracked by followers on Twitter.

The tweeter behind the @BronxZoosCobra account is posting updates about the female snake’s imaginary adventures around New York.

While the mysterious tweeter declines to reveal her identity, her cobra account has gained almost 30,000 followers.

“Taking the Sex and the City Tour!!! I’m totally a SSSamantha. #snakeonthetown,” one tweet said.

The account even attracted a parody Tweeter, @BronxZookeeper, who also writes in character (the account is not affiliated with the Bronx Zoo).

“Seriously, @BronxZoosCobra. I give you special entrance to the rodent exhibit and this is how you re-pay me? NOT COOL,” one tweet from the “zookeeper” said.

The real Bronx zookeepers are continuing to search the reptile house where they believe the snake has been hiding since Saturday, according to ABC News.

But while they search, the social media-friendly snake continues to slither her way through the Twitter world: “Holding very still in the snake exhibit at the Museum of Natural History. This is gonna be hilarious!”
