The Row at USC is about to get a lot quieter on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
ATVN spoke to an anonymous source within the Greek community and learned that on Thursday, chapter presidents met with Dr. Michael Jackson, the Vice President of Student Affairs.
A source said that the meeting was held to discuss recent events within the Greek community.
The university’s administration had proposed that all social events be banned, including house parties, exchanges, and invites. However, the university decided against this ban, instead choosing to place the entire Greek community on social probation.
This social ban restricts Tuesday night or Thursday night parties, fraternity and sorority socials (informally called B&Bs), and dinners. Parties that are allowed are registered parties on Friday or Saturday night.
According to ATVN’s source, DPS will also be patrolling the Row more to enforce the probation.
Also, the creation of a task force will work on several areas to create a long-term improvement plan. The areas targeted would include hazing, the reduction and prevention of sexual assault, the reduction and prevention of underage alcohol consumption, fire safety, and university safety.
It is unknown if this probation will only last for this spring semester or if it will continue into the fall and semesters to come.
