Vivian Hall reopened Wednesday morning after a team of firefighters responded to reports of a chemical spill in one of the chemistry labs.

The building was closed as a student was reportedly exposed to the “tiny” amount of acid spilled and was experiencing “minor respiratory irritation.” The 28-year-old female student was under evaluation at a local hospital for possible exposure to mixed acids, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The affected student is reportedly in good condition.

There were no reports of any evacuations on campus but the building was closed as a precaution.

USC’s Department of Public Safety received the call about the spill at 6:40 a.m.

Classes are to be held as scheduled. The first floor of the building remains closed.

LA County health officials allowed the building to be reopened after the LAFD concluded their investigations at the scene.
