Juan Uribe may be close to signing a three-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, two sources close to the situation told the Associated Press.
The sources remained anonymous since the deal has not been finalized.
Juan Uribe was the starting shortstop for the San Francisco Giants last season, helping the team win its first championship since moving to California in 1958.
The general manager of the Giants, Brian Sabean, said he wishes to bring Uribe back next season, however he admitted the two parties have different numbers in mind for a contract for Uribe.
Sabean offered Uribe arbitration last Tuesday.
The Giants are already looking for help at the shortstop position after declining an option on Edgar Renteria’s contract for the 2011 season.
Last season Uribe played in 148 games for the Giants, 103 of those at shortstop.
He hit .248 with 24 home runs and 85 runs batted in.
In the World Series Uribe added 1 more homer and 5 more knocked in.
